A very traditional DC rowhome that needed rejuvenation and modification for a busy family’s lifestyle. The design reimagines the home to better support daily living, creating spaces that feel both connected and purposeful. The main level is centered around gathering, with the kitchen acting as the heart of the home and uniting the surrounding spaces. A pass-through with a stained glass transom connects the kitchen and dining nook, creating a sense of openness while maintaining distinct moments within the home. Upstairs, the second level was reconfigured to work within the tight constraints of the rowhome while improving function and flow. The layout was reshuffled to create a more refined primary suite while better supporting the needs of the household. Throughout, the design focuses on bringing warmth and character while maximizing storage within the compact footprint. The result is a home that better reflects the way the family lives, creating space to gather, connect, and move through each day with ease.
