Mt. Pleasant

Renovation

This 1920s DC row home had a layout which kept the family divided when on the first floor, and the stair location in the middle of the home exacerbated the issue. We worked with the clients to find a design which maximized the circular flow and encouraging the transition of the spaces as moments within the home. A built in banquette is a great place for family dinners and the extended coffee station made a desk with easy access to caffeine. By removing the 1980s added fireplace hearth created more space in the living room and the perfect spot for custom built-in bookshelves to highlight the owner’s extensive book collection. This made the space feel extremely personable and brought the clients love of books into the space.
